1996 - Cos d'Estournel Bordeaux Blend |

| This wine drinks like a classic St. Estephe. It begins lean and somewhat austere with substantial mineral notes. Its structure is apparent right out of the bottle, but the mid-palate is quite hollow. After about an hour and a half of decanting, though, the fruit begins to come alive and flesh out the structure. All of the things we like about Bordeaux varietals are there - cassis, red and black fruits, etc. - not in a big way, but well balanced. |
