I had a glass last night after work. I didn't pay much attention to it I just remember thinking. This is a good and relaxing glass of wine.

Soft and medium bodied this Bordeaux is elegant with a aroma of spice and a hint of cherry.

Didn't hold its promise as a good effort in a weak vintage

Had the '97 Pavie for Christmas dinner with NY strips. There is a long related story about forgetting the veal tenderloin in the oven to defrost and melting the butchers' wrap on the meat and losing a long awaited feast. Anyhow, talk to my lovely wife about that one.

Now the Pavie. Decanted 2 and 1/2 hours, but tasted repeatedly upon openning. The color was akin to Burgundy as was the thinly viscous pallor to this wine. The nose was in fact quite spectacular with respectable oak, a hint of tobacco, and Margaux-like perfume. However, that's where the bounty ended. This wine was insipid. Tepid and weak it was subtle and inoffensive enough, but did someone put pinot noir in my glass? What a difference Perse made in the '98 Pavie. However, this is not Perse's creation. I rated this even lower than RP's 85. Enjoy with steamed salmon and boiled potatoes.
