This seemed to be a more creamy Dom than what I've had in the past.  Overall, I thought this brought more crispness than prior vintages.  The orange flavors mentioned in other reviews is right on the money and not something I've tasted before in Dom.

Moet Chandon Dom Perignon Champagne Blend 1999
Dry citrus in style, with effervescence.

Moet and Chandon has been at the Dom Perignon game for over 70 years, and here we're trying the 1999 vintage.

In the glass, you notice a light yellow tone with a slight golden hue. The vista is interrupted by a single strand of fast moving bubbles. Aromas are of yeasty lemon.

On the palate, effervescence is the first note. The overall feel is dry, with acids moving up the side of your mouth. Dry citrus in style, with a relatively brief finish. I didn't see the stuffing that would suggest long additional aging potential, though I'm clearly outvoted by the experts on this assessment. I'm giving two stars because, although the experience was pleasant enough, I wasn't drawn back to another experience. A plus is added for the delicate balance.

But, all in all, in the Champagne category, I am drawn more to the Duval-Leroy Brut NV, at a significantly lower price point. I realize this review won't win friends, but it's just how I see it.

Definitely better than the '92, '93 and '98

Sampled 12/31/07. A very fine effort that could get better in the relatively short run. More mandarin orange and lemons than usual for a Dom with a hint of a creamy mid palate before a nice strong acidic and green apple finish arrives. Still not quite fully integrated with itself, I suspect it will round out in the next 3 years and drink wonderfully for 7 to 10 years. I`ll revisit in a couple years.

The new vintage release from Dom Perignon stays true to form.

Very true to the always great Dom Perignon style. Light and crisp, yet full in the mouth. Lots of intense fruit flavors that burst on you. The champagne does not overdry on the long finish. As usual, this is the champagne to compare all others to.
