The Lafite that does not pass prime it becomes more complex.....

I purchased a bottle of Lafite (1987) on winecommune.com from another wine lover located in Colorado. He said "its a good bottle,,,may be past it`s prime." I thought that age might have dulled its luster or negatively impacted the wine. To my surprise, it was one of the most complex bottles I have ever enjoyed. The fruit was still ripe and robust. It was more complex and long lasting than the 1987 that I remembered. If you can find this bottle, do not be made to believe that its past it`s prime. This wine will be prime and complex for many more years! Enjoy!

Nice Surprise!
Score: 98 points

In 1990 this wine was nothing to write home about. Over the years it has evolved into a real classic. It has improved and is well worth the price. It is still fresh and with the strong air of fruit. It should have been consumed already but it will last for years. Roses? As of 2004 this wine is a work of art.
