2002 - Behrens and Hitchcock Les Chats du Monde

For those of you who are familiar with Behren's & Hitchcock wines, you know they have some very entertaining labels and names for their specialty wines. Most of their wines are in the $50-100 range, but I picked up the 2002 Les Chats du Monde for less due to a bin-scuffed label. The label has a picture of a big tiger, so I was glad he was a little faded out. The wine however, was not with a very high alcohol content. It was immediately recognizable but the delicious flavors and spice unique to B&H.  The cabernet and syrah was a perfect blend and worth the price tag and the 92 point rating. These wines will soon be under a new label since the partnership was dissolved so find yours today!

2001 - Giacosa, Bruno Barbaresco Asili

This is a one of a kind Barbaresco with a taste of sweet and ripe fruit that I couldn’t pass up. The bouquet reveals scents of spices and flowers with just a hint of smoke and classical Piedmont asphalt (it’s much better than it sounds). The palate is supple and elegant with plum plus strawberry tones. The finish is generous and lingers. Drinking beautifully now, it will also age well. This will put a sizable dent in your pocketbook, but well worth it for a special treat.
