Opend in honor of Mondavi who just passed away recently. This was a fun wine. I always like Napa Cabs, but beacuse of an increase in price, it;'s beyond my budget.

I just love their Chardonnays. It's all in balance and not too buttery. It's rich and balanced but a bit pricey, but it is a special occaion wine and goes well with an assortment of foods.
| 2004 - Castano Hecula |
| May 29, 2008 |

| So So wine. About $10 or less. It's just that I may be getting bored with the cheap Spainsh wines. I've tried cheap Potugese wines even $3 ones that I enjoy as much as a $10 spanish ones.

| 2006 - Massolino Dolcetto d'Alba |
| May 29, 2008 |

A bit acidic, but once I had this with some pasta with porcini, it tasted great. Definitely need food with this, but after my meal, without food (about 3 hrs) it was great on its own.
| 2006 - Vina Cobos Malbec El Felino |
| May 29, 2008 |

Great steak wine. Especially with chimichurri sauce. Would havebeen better if the oak was not dominant, but still a fun wine to have with friends and family on a nice Spring Day.

| 2005 - Mann, Albert Pinot Auxerrois Vieilles Vignes |

| 2005 - Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Flax Vineyard |
| May 29, 2008 |
Load of dark berries, earth on the nose. Still a bit tannic and fruits being huge, this may age for some time. After 3 hrs later. This is complex. I'll try to hold off drinking the rest.
| 2003 - Amisfield Pinot Noir |
| May 29, 2008 |
Nice Pinot noir but could be more with earth, berries, a bit CA like, maybe i should have had this when I got it or maybe it's in a dumb phase. I'll try another one in a year or 2.
| 1999 - Hanna Cabernet Sauvignon |
| May 29, 2008 |
Still great. i had this 3 years ago and thought it was at peak, but took a chance and aged this longer. It didn't improve, but there's more secondary notes and fruit is taking a back step.
| 2006 - Henry's Drive Shiraz |
| May 29, 2008 |
This used to be good (Pillar Box) But this bottle tastwed liek a cheap Spanish wine from th 90s. maybe it's the vintage or an off bottle, but I would not even give this one star.
| 2006 - Remejeanne, Domaine Cotes du Rhone les Chevrefeuilles |
| May 29, 2008 |
Good QPR for a Cotes du Rhone. I wanted to try he 2006 vintage of this variety and it's pretty good. Nicely balanced and reminds me of some cheaper Chateauneuf du papes.
| 2005 - McPrice Meyers Syrah Larner Vineyard |
| May 29, 2008 |
Again this was great. i should lay my hands off these for another few years and see if it ages well. It's a bit in the sweet side, but notes of dried meat and hot rocks makes it interesting
| 2006 - House Of Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough |

very simple, good Qpr considering my fave was Kim Crawford which is now $18 or more, so I'm looking for cheap Sauv Blancs for the summer. I think I could find something better tho.

| 2004 - Remei, Castell del Gotim Bru |

| 2005 - St Jean, Chateau Fume Blanc |
| May 22, 2008 |

| 2004 - Santa Ema Merlot |
| May 22, 2008 |

Not bad at all. A little off balanced with too much vanilla. medium to full body and at $7 it's a steal. Very nice QPR. Simple, but it can easily be an every day wine.
| 2003 - Maris, Domaine Minervois |
| May 22, 2008 |
Great value under $10. Nose of ink, dark berries, ice mouthfeel, very viscous ad log fiish. A bit heat which I hate, but ot overbearig. It's a ice wie. I've had wine 2x-3x the price that is similar. A bit simple but still ca go on for a few more years

| 1996 - Lopez De Heredia Rioja White Vina Gravonia Crianza |
| May 21, 2008 |

This was only $20 at PJs. What a great deal on an aged white wine. The nose echibited some vanilla scented popcorn, but the palate was more on the citrus side with great minerality and had adecent finish.
| 2003 - Usseglio, Pierre Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul |
| May 21, 2008 |
WOOOW. Nose (explosive) of berries, anise, coffee upon opening the bottel and pured into glass, the mouthfeel was silky, but concentrated fruit. The wine did lose some of its bigness after sometime 3-4 hrs, so that's why it's not a 5 star wine
| 2006 - Lurton, J & F Tierra del Fuego (Land of Fire) |
| May 21, 2008 |

Syrupy, balanced nice dessert wine. But it gave me some headaches due to too much sweetness. It was like missing pancakes. A lot of people might like this. I liked it but not thrilled me.

| 2005 - Alban Vineyards Viognier |

I loved their other vintages, but this one was off balanced. This was about $25 and I've had better viogniers from CA. Too much fruit and not enough acidity, and did not go with the seafood dish I had.

Definitely an Old World style. Tannis are soft now with an hint of mint. Very complex. Should have bought more bottles. Paid $15.

full throttle. not shy. the nose gives off concetrated raspberries, cumin, cola, stone dryig the moisture out on a hot day. Tastes great. Creamy mouthwatering feel, finish goes on and on, totally on the dark berry side. nicely balanced. A litle heat on the nose keeps it from being 95. Will be interesting to revisit in a yr or 2. Still one of my fave OTT pinots. Kosta Browne's Kanlzer comes to mind.

Too much fruit & Heat dominated the wine. Some hints of choco, chalk, lavender. Not bad. Had w/ Steak and Dauphne potatoes w/ caramalized onions and sage.

89 pts the 1st day. It just was too OTT drinking against some old world wines. Pts reflect the next day. Nice to drink by itself. Like a cocktail. Delicious. Fruit fwd. More like an Aussie Shiraz. Totally coats your mouth, like eating caramel. Not much tannins. I don't think this will age much, but I'm not exp enuf to tell.
The btle I had B4 was not showing much, so maybe that was a bad one?

Can't believe that this is a Beaujolais. Cherries, Deep, Earthy, Tar. was $10, Should buy more if I could find it. Finish is too short though. Ate w/Braised chicjen w/figs and honey - not an ideal match. Pop'n Poured. Got earthier as the night progressed. Imporved a lot w/ age. Last time I tasted it I gave it a 87. No notes

Initially, nose of paint thinner. It's been in the 70s in NYC, so the wine was a bit too warm, so I put it in the fridge to cool it. After 1 hr, the heat went away and the nose was filled with berries and wet thick dirt. Taste of berries, earth, mouthcoating, med-full body, med finish (10sec). I think RP said it's like a baby brunello, it did remind me of one (however to note, my experiences with brunello's is limited). This is a blend of new world and old, but skewing towards the old. Goes well with food. Had with pork piccata and pastini with porcini's cooked in the style of risotto. Perfect match. Great bargain @ $13. Should get more. I think this is the 1st time I've had a Rosso, I should try more.

Better and different than before. Now I get bamboo shoots, the smelly kind (barnyard, stinky feet kind). Lots of fruit. Rosemary on the nose. Very nice and rustic. Complex. More like a CdP now. Did the high temps in NYC 07, did it get cooked for the better? Had w/Pot roast.

Maybe I just don't like this type of wine. Again, nose was muted. Maybe some apple and lemon on th enose and tongue. Minerals, cork on the palate. But it did go well w/ Chicken and olives, w/ Lemon Pasta. Score is based on avg of wine only 84pts. W/food 88 pts. A good match w/Olives on the 3rd day

Nice wine. Nose of dark fruits, hint of cinnamon, damp basement. Tastes of sour cherries, acidity, starts lights, gets heavier and leaves with a long finish. Thought it may go well w/babbo's Short ribs (some tomatos in it) and Squash Risotto., but the Ribs were too heavy to compete w/barbera. Prob a better pairing would be w/ lighter tomato sauced pastas.

Pop n poured. Nose : rocke and gravel : ), sea, nice CA rhone blend nose. Mix of fruit. Palate: minerals, cinamon, acid (helps coat the mouth, hint of dark, fruit (can't figure the fruit out, but reminscent of a Rhone-maybe raspberry? ). bit of heat. Nicely integrated tannins, but will be better aged a bit or decanted a bit. Balanced another QPR. It would be a 90 pt if the heat was not noticable.

Another WOW. Very elegant. Not like OTT wines from Aussie/CA syrah's with a lot of heat I've had before. Nose of dark berries, soy sauce, salami rind. Nice long finish that's deep and thought provoking. Style is very Alesia/Rhys. I want more of this. Definitely I should get my full allocation plus more.
